It depends on a few factors such as your situation and how much are you looking to put aside monthly, etc.

Are you currently a student or graduate looking for work?

As a student, you may want to consider saving from your monthly allowance as that is like your income. You can also consider how likely are you going to touch the 10k while you are studying, and how much are you willing to put it in another financial instrument.

Liquidity VS Growth

If you are currently looking for a job. How long do you foresee yourself securing a job and getting your first income? Let that time be X months.

Some basic consideration should be

  1. Will x months of saving affect your daily living if you had not secure a job by then

  2. What is your purpose for this plan? If You were to start saving after x months, what are the
differences? Will your goal or purpose be affected?

  3. How comfortable are you to touch your 10k? How much are you willing to use for the plan if you have no active income.

These should give you a clearer idea according to your stage of life
