How useful is NTUC Membership for employee benefits/rights? With recession, retrenchment is expected. How are workers protected by Unions?

Indirectly linked to finance as you get money from your job and if you are retrenched, no more money. Eagles Services made headlines today for their retrenchment exercises, with Union stepping in.

Bascially you are not protected from retrenchment.

But at times of retrenchment, union will help to fight for a fairer/reasonable retrenchment package as well as providing support for new job hunting.
