I'd say it depends on how much each person earns. Previously when I was earning more than my spouse, I paid the lion's share of the mortgage as well as the household utilities and broadband expenses.
Nowadays the earnings gap has closed and we both contribute to a joint account and the expenses get deducted from there. We have also made adjustments to mortgage so it's even now but more than the minimum monthly repayment so that the loan repayment period is lowered. Hope this helps. Every couple will have their own idea of this. Just need to work it out.

Different strokes for different couples.
My husband and I pay our own bills and expenses by ourselves.
If we go out on dates, we take turns to cover the bill. We aren't calculative about it cos that ruins romance faster than you can yell Sherlock. lol.
For baby, we split expenses, although I end up paying for all the small expenses like baby bibs, clothes, toys, etc. So actually I frankly think baby's stuff is 80% paid by me lor. Haha.
