Has anyone had any experience with missing DBS points because of their reward system? And what is the idea behind making such a system?

From what I understand, the 10X DBS Points only apply to the first S$2,000 online spend per calendar month where it is awarded to qualifying transactions over 2 stages:

1) 1 business day after transaction date (1 DBS point)
2) 16th of the next calendar month (9 DBS points)

Usually when I detect missing points, I will call up DBS hotline and check with the CSO. They are normally able to explain why the points are not credited.

DBS is not the only bank to issue extra points later. Other banks do it too. I suspect it is because of the workflow developed and also to give themselves time to verify the MCC of the merchants. Extra points are extra cost to them so I think they rather err on the side of caution.

Cheers!

A quick call to Customer Service should sort this out. I had an issue with Citi once and they patiently went through the statements with me. YMMV however, so if you get a customer service officer who isn't too keen, hang up and call again.

You'll have to track your online spending very carefully and have your information ready to go through with customer service.

This is also why I can't recommend the UOB KF card at all. Imagine waiting 1 year for the bonus points to post, you will go crazy trying to reconcile the information to see if any points are missing.

The best answer would be to call DBS. Sometime, they have calculation changes as part of their terms and conditions.

No, I have not encountered any experience of missing DBS points. If you do face any such issues, can...
