My very first (then) 'fashionable' Daniel Wellington watch that everyone was raving about over the internet. HAHA, eventually regretted my decision because I realised that

1) I don't actually go out that often or need to dress up that much
2) The quality of the watch was really meh and the money could really have been better off saved in my bank account or invested somewhere else

Like I said, I bought it cause I was a young and dumb teenager following trendy stuff on social media like Facebook and Instagram.

p.s. I still have the watch with me after all these years, but its chucked somewhere at the corner of my drawer with no juice to run on.

Buying a Canon DSLR when i was in my first job, thinking that spending a significant sum of money would be the impetus for me to hone my photography skills. but nope, i never did put aside the time to learn how to leverage the DSLR. if i did use it, i used it as a normal camera. haha

i have learnt since then that spending money doesn't buy motivation. motivation must come from within and be present in the first place.

When I was younger...

For a period of time I used to buy useless white gold and diamonds to make myself happier. Sold them all off at a huge loss.

Also used to get psycho-ed by those spas to sign endless packages to look and feel better.

Bought new cars at high loan just to have a car at a young age. Frequently bought new expensive furniture to follow a theme, and then just gave them away or sold cheap when changing theme.

I wish I was better at managing my money back then. Now in my 30s, I am more frugal and have to start from scratch.

I bought a drumset but haven't played it in the house for years (like more than 8 years), largely due to the neighbours below complaining about the vibrations from the bass pedal after the first week. Didn't want it to escalate, and it would have cost money to sound proof my room too.

Sigh. It was 4 figures and now it's sitting nicely packed in several boxes. But it's my instrument of choice. I can totally see myself as a (death?) metal drummer if I wasn't doing what I'm doing now. Haha.
