If you are a fresh grad it will be very obvious. Mainly cause they have no way to judge your abilities other than with a uni cert. Branded > local (traditional) > others. Traditional meaning the route from jc/poly to university. For MNC, mainly because it means you are more likely to fit in and follow the rules. (I think?)

After about 5 years, it's more about your work experience and networking skills.

But I do find that people that can talk better will always get a better advantage.

If you are not a good talker, people will never be able to find out how good you are other than with a good CV and your cert.

Yes. Local Uni is preferred over private uni.

As others have mentioned, govt and MNCs will.

SME not so much because less people want to join SME so they no choice.

For my specific case, I went job hunting 3 months before my final exams.

So I was applying to a mid tier audit firm who scheduled an interview with me.

I was actually full of joy when I made my way down, until I realised that it was for a different position. (Corp Sec)

When I expressed my interest in looking for an audit position, the interviewer coldly replied that they will prefer a graduate from a "traditional" university, whatever the hell that means T.T

So yea, it does matter to an extent.
