Hi, Saxo is different from StashAway & MoneyOwl, StashAway & MoneyOwl are Robo-advisors where they decide the ETF for you based on your risk. As for Saxo, they are a brokerage, just a middleman to help you buy the stock of your choice, beat to use them for U.S stocks as the fees are cheaper than most brokerages though they do have a 0.12% per annum custody fee with no minimum. You can use them for local stocks also but DBS Vickers Cash Upfront is better as the stocks bought through DBSV Cash Upfront directly goes to your CDP.

Hi, IB has really good low fees and no custodian fee but the downside is that you have to meet certain criteria to not incur the $10 monthly fee which is to either have over $100,000 in assets invested with IB or transact $10 fee worth of stocks. As for Saxo they don’t have the account minimum that IB has but they do have a 0.12% custodian fee which has no minimum, their exchange rate is also excellent. If you are an investor who purchases a lot of stock then IB would be better but if you don’t transact a lot Saxo would be better. Hope this helps.

Hi, The minimum you can buy is 1 stock for U.S exchanges. Buying stocks is the same all around the world, you don’t have to have extra money to cover losses, as there will be no “Margin Call” if you buy with 50k in cash. Also I’m going to assume that the 50k is in USD, with that at the current amazon stock price of USD 1784.92, you can only buy 28 shares which is 1784.92 x 28 = USD 49,977.76 (excluding fees), so you will have some money leftover as stocks can only be bought in whole numbers. Also you can only lose the exact amount you have invested unless you buy the shares on margin, which is basically buying shares on borrowed money. Also if you hold it for long term, it will depend on how the stock performs, if the share price goes up, you can make a profit, vice versa. Hope this makes it clearer.

You could try xtrackers ETFs, they have plenty of them tracking indices from emerging markets. But do you due diligence before investing in them.

Hi, You could try Saxo Investor, they have USD account, their fees for U.S stocks and ETFs are probably the cheapest I have seen so far about 4+ USD. They do have 0.12% annual custody fee, but there is no minimum. Their customer service is also quite decent and their app and website are easy to use with simple UI.

Hi, I’m assuming that you want to buy a stock that costs more then $5, in that case you can’t buy 1 lot as it costs more then the capital you have. You could do Regular Savings Plan on the stock you want, in which case you can put $500 and buy less then 1 lot. This is considered odd lot. For regular savings plan(RSP) you could try POEMS, they have RSP for blue-chip stocks.

Maybank Kim Eng

Hi, Usually it’s $40. But since Maybank KE has closed MIP, they have a promotion till the end of the year where the commission is the $10 + GST, which usually costs about $10.75, and yes the minimum is $10 so you will be charged $10+ no matter the contract value, you have to call your representative to make the sale for odd lots. The contract value for odd lots would not be same as the market as odd lot market value is slightly lower for every stock. Yes you will be charged separately for different counters, hope this helps.

Hi, It will get credited in to your CDP DCS account, which is whichever bank account you have linked it with. If you want to change the DCS account, you can do so by logging into CDP website and changing it under profile.

Comparison

Investments

Hi, When you link your CDP to your trading account, the stocks you buy through your brokerage are sent to your CDP to be held under your name. As for linking it to your savings account, I think you mean the Direct Crediting Service(DCS), which is used to payout dividends earned, so when you link your savings account to CDP, dividends you receive are payed out to you savings account through DCS. So there isn’t really any comparison as they are used for different purposes. Hope this helps.

Dividends

Hi, I use Saxo to invest also. For my my dividends I received them directly into my Saxo account. Also depending on what currency your account is in your dividend may be converted to your account currency. E.g my account is in USD, so when I received dividends from my U.S investments I received them in USD, but if your account is in SGD and you received dividends in USD it will be automatically converted to SGD. so make sure you choose the correct currency for your account.
