Funding Societies

P2P Lending

Hi, I’m a funding Societies user. On their app itself they meantion their default rate which currently stands at 1.21%. So I’m not sure where you got your info from.

SAXO Capital Markets

Hi, I use Saxo investor for my investments in overseas markets, their fees for U.S stocks are quite competitive I think is about 4 USD per trade, they have custody fee though of 0.12% p.a with no minimum amount. Their platform is also quite simple and easy to use, you also can get access to many other European and Asian stock exchanges through them, the fees for other markets I’m not too sure. I find them to be one of the better platforms to invest overseas.

Online Brokerages

Hi, The simplest way i would say is to create a brokerage account with brokers who giver access to foreign markets such as Saxo, DBS Vickers etc. I personally use Saxo. Buy into the S&P 500 on a monthly basis, but of course this isn’t a DCA programme, rather you have to purchase it every month, also for Saxo the fees to invest in the U.S is one of the lowest, also S&P 500 is USD250+, so in SGD it will cost almost SGD400. This is just one way to do it, do your own research and see what fits you. Hope this helps.

Hi, I went to trade binary options looking at how high the returns were, I didn’t have any prior knowledge on them, lost $400 in a few minutes

Hi, Get POSB SAYE with BE YOUR OWN BOSS(BYOB), you can contribute any amount from $50 to $3000 every month, will auto-deduct from your main DBS/POSB Account. Dont touch the money for 2 years and you get 2% + Base Interest rate. Then to get the BYOB just use DBS Credit or DBS Debit card 5 times a month, to get extra 2% interest. So total 4%, as long you don’t touch the money for 2 years. Im currently awaity NS and plan to do this.

Hi, For my overseas investment i use Saxo Capital Markets to invest. Their rates are one of the best in Singapore with a 0.5% above the Google Exchange rate you find. Others usually have about 1%.

Hi, Im in the same position as you 20 & waiting for NS. For myself i decided to park my savings in Singapore Savings Bonds. I recently purchased them, can earn about 2+% interest a year, backed by government of Singapore and you can take it out anytime you want with no penalty.

Stocks

Maybank Kim Eng

Hi, For your odd lot of shares they will remain in your account and you can sell them at a later time but the commission would be higher as at the moment it is discounted. Or you can keep them in your account and earn dividends if the shares payout any.

I would personally ask you to take a look at Maybank Kim Eng Monthly Investment Plan, you can invest through it for as little as $100 a month, what makes it stand out from others is that, it gives you access to 5 different countries, such as U.S, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. It also has more stock choices to choose from compared to other Regular Savings Plans, the fee is also low at minimum $1 or 1%, although the stocks are kept in a custodian account and not a CDP account, hence the lower fees. As for Your 20K you have, you should put into part of into Singapore Savings Bond(SSB), it is backed by the Government Of Singapore, and provides a higher rate of return about 2% compared to CIMB Fastsaver.

First thing you want to so is set-up a brokerage account with the many brokers in Singapore, such as DBS Vickers, Maybank Kim Eng etc, all of the brokers have access to the U.S Market so choose them based on fees and other markets that you would like to invest in. This gives you access to buy the S&P 500 and many other ETFs listed in U.S market, you can invest them through the online websites that this brokerages have.
