Syfe allows fractional units whereas for Kristal, you need to hit their min investment unit.

I'm 23 this year just started my full time job and have 6 months of emergency funds, totally new to investment and just recently joined stashaway. Can I invest in a specific ETF that I'm interested in apart from the recommended portfolio?

Hi anon, SA doesn't allow their users to choose specific ETFs. If you want to choose specific ETFs using a roboadvisor, perhaps you can consider Kristal. They offer quite a number of ETFs and you can decide which ETF you would want to go for after doing your research. There's no charges if your portfolio is below $50k. Alternatively, you may also look into FSMone RSP and see if your specific ETF is on the list.

Hi Alcander, i think that everyone's financial situation is different and it's hard to determine whether your expenditure is considered "normal" or not. Personally, i always track my spending (i use the seedly app but feel free to use any which you think suits your needs) so that I know where my money is going to. I don't like the idea of seeing the money in my account depleting without knowing what/where I spent it on. It also helps me to see which category i'm overspending on. I try to save money in some areas where i have control over. For example, i always bring a bottle of water out with me whenever I have my meals so that I won't be tempted to get my usual teh bing. This helps me to cut down on my expenses in the short term and also in the long term, it's better for my health :) As for my spending habits, I tend to buy some of my clothes from Carousell or some Selling groupchats on telegram because you'll usually find clothes that are still BNWT at half the retail price! When it comes to online shopping, I try to make use of vouchers. Using Shopee as an example, sometimes they'll give you a voucher once you hit a min spending and on top of that, you could utilise certain bank promo codes on a certain day (e.g. $5 off promo code when you use DBS/POSB card) as well as your Shopee coins. So what i'll do is that i'll add things that I need to buy (e.g. my skincare items, supplements, etc.) into my cart and wait till it hits the min spending amount and cart out everything at one go. Hope my tips help and happy graduation! :)

I'm using a Frank acc too and from what i rmb, as long as you're below 26, there's no monthly service fee and no daily avg balance to hit.

Grab

Is it better to use an app that rewards you (e.g. Grab points) or to use an app that is cheaper - spend less save more (e.g, Deliveroo)?

If you're looking to invest in REITs and don't mind doing it with a roboadvisor, you could consider Syfe REITs portfolio. They have a 100% REITs portfolio and another portfolio that is REITs with bonds allocation. Since you mentioned that you're looking to invest over a long period of time, perhaps you can consider the 100% REITs portfolio.

10k in Elastiq or Singlife? I understand interest rates are dropping, so is 1.8% pa guaranteed (2.03% pa for 3 years taking into account rebates from promotion) better than 2.5% non-guaranteed pa?

Maybe you could park your money with Singlife first and if the interest rates were to drop, you can just withdraw and park it with Elastiq. Unlike Elastiq, Singlife has no lock-in period so you can withdraw the money anytime and it will reflect almost immediately in your bank acc.

Perhaps you can look into Saxo and IBKR and see which you would prefer.
